Custom Kitchen Islands Sized to the Room, Not the Showroom
Showroom islands are sized for a warehouse aisle, not a Ballantyne galley that needs 36 inches of walkway. Jesminov builds custom kitchen islands to the room: seating overhang of at least 12 inches, outlets in an end panel instead of the pretty side, a prep zone or a second sink decided on the 3D — not mid-build. We template the top after the island is set and lagged.
Weddington open plans can take a big island. A 1950s Charlotte ranch often wants a peninsula or a table instead, and we will say so. Knees lose on a 10-inch overhang. That is physics, not taste.
What gets decided on the drawing
Seating count. Trash pull-out vs a prep sink. Whether the island is the only storage on that side of the room. Quartz waterfall vs a wood base you can kick. Then cabinets and tops follow one schedule with the rest of the kitchen renovation.
Quick answers
Electrical in the island?
Code wants it. We put receptacles where you will actually plug in, not on the guest side if we can help it.
Can I keep my old island?
If it is square and the height is right. Many are not.
How long?
Shop time plus the kitchen calendar. Islands are not a Saturday add-on.
