Wallpaper Removal and Wall Prep in the Charlotte Metro
The last crew in your Concord ranch may have hung vinyl on unprimed drywall in 1994. Dry-peeling that paper takes the face of the board with it. Jesminov Builders Workshop strips wallpaper in the Charlotte metro with scoring, steam, and a glue-neutralizing wash — then we decide if the wall needs a skim, lining paper, or both before anything new goes up.
Kannapolis mill houses and older Concord plaster are a different job from a 2018 Ballantyne new-build. Plaster can take lining paper and look expensive. Torn drywall that was never supposed to be stripped needs joint compound, prime, and time to dry. Rushing that overnight is how seams ghost through a $200-a-roll print.
How we strip without wrecking the house
Floors and vents are covered. We test a corner. Some papers strip dry; most vinyls need scoring and steam. Glue residue is washed, not painted over. If the face paper of the drywall is gone, we skim. If the wall is wavy plaster you still love, we line it so the new print sits on a flat plane.
Removal is quoted separately from the hang because we cannot honestly price a wall we have not opened. Send photos; we will tell you if it looks like a half-day or a two-day mess. Then hang from the wallpaper page.

Can I strip it myself?
You can. If the drywall face comes off, you have created a skim-coat job. We would rather see it first.
Will there be a smell?
Steam and a mild enzyme wash, then fans. Not a chemical fog.
Can you hang the next day?
Only if the wall is dry and sound. Skim coats need cure time.
